HOW TO ACHIEVE GREATNESS IN MARRIAGE

Marriage is not a rocket science like some people makes it appear, but marriage is a beautiful garden meant for two.

 It brings much favour and blessings from God and men. As long as the foundation of your marriage is right no arm can happen to it, but there are ways you can add colour to your marriage when you get married or if you are married.

 

1.  Buy gifts for each other.

Everyone irrespective of how wealthy they are appreciates when a person gives them a gift. You must not wait till it’s your spouse’s birthday or it’s your wedding anniversary before you buy gift for your partner. Learn to buy things for your partner to appreciate him/her. This will boost your love for each other and bring you closer.

 

2.  Learn to say “thank you”.

Not everyone knows how to say “thank you” when they receive a gift or when a person shows them kindness. Even if saying “thank you” has never been your way of life, you will have to learn. Say “thank you” to your partner after you have just being served a delicious meal. Say “thank you” to your partner after you both have made each other very happy in bed. Always learn to appreciate your wife/husband for being such a great partner to you. When you appreciate people, they will put in their best in the relationship/marriage.

 

 

 

3.  Say Sweet words to each other.

It is not enough to buy present for your partner, but you should also learn to compliment each other.

It is not only when your partner buys you an expensive gift that you will say “oh you’re such a darling”. Make your partner know that he/she is always your darling even when he/she forgets your birthday.

Form the habit of telling your partner how helpful he/she has been to you, and how you cannot imagine losing him/her. Also tell your partner how much you love him/her, and how your life has change for the better since he/she came into your life. Always say sweet words to each other, it will help to bring you closer.

 

4.  Learn to forgive

One of the sweetness of marriage is when you offend your partner, and your partner forgives you without waiting for you to apologize. That is one of the sweetness of marriage. Another is when you come to know that you offended your partner only when he/she makes a joke with the incident which happened. Learn to forgive yourselves and you will see how wonderful marriage is.

 

5.   Be honest to one another.

A man should be honest to his wife, make her know how much you earn, that way she will know how to manage any amount given to her without asking for more. A woman should also be honest to her husband, this way there won’t be room for little secrets which will lead to telling lies to each other in the future.

 

6.   Respect one another.

Every individual likes being respected. So, as a man/woman learn to respect your partner. If you’re a man don’t say “my father use to beat my mother three times in a day, so, I must beat my wife”. Remember you cannot beat yourself, so don’t hit your wife because it is not good, and God won’t be happy with you. If you’re a woman, you should learn to respect and honour your husband. See him as the head of the home because that is what he is. Appreciate him at all time, and make him know how much you respect him. Never point fingers at him when you’re angry, and never use insultive or abusive words on him. When you respect him, he will love you more.

7.   Defend and protect one another.

As couples, there might be time when either the man’s family may want to ride on the woman either by insulting her or jokingly using abusive words on her. It’s in the place of the man to make them stop, but not to just watch and believe that the woman won’t pick offense. There are times too when a mother does not like her son’s wife, whenever the daughter-in-law goes to visit her; she will start sending her about like a servant. In such cases it is in the place of the man to quickly stop it, and make his mother understand that his wife can assist in domestic work, but cannot be used as a maid. And there are times too when a son –in-law is not very wealthy, the mother-in-law will want to be very rude to him. In such cases if he talks to her it will seem rude. Therefore, the girl has to make her mother stop disrespecting her husband.

 

8.   Pray together.

There is a phrase which says “couples that pray together stay together”. Believe it or not, couples that pray together stay together.

 

The bible says one shall chase a thousand and two ten thousand. This means that you cannot do it all by yourself, you can only achieve greater results when you pray together. It is a team work. Therefore, must not be left for the woman alone or the man alone. You can pray individually sometimes, but ensure from time to time you pray together as couples.
